“What do you mean courier costs used to be £5?”
That was the reaction in our office recently when our founder, Keith Warren-Price was talking about display board hire back in the 90’s.
After over 35 years hiring display boards across the UK, Keith has watched almost every business cost steadily climb: fuel, warehousing, insurance, vehicle costs, packaging, repairs, labour & courier charges.
Years ago, sending boards around the country was relatively inexpensive. Today, logistic costs alone can make or break a hire company.
What many customers don’t see is that courier pricing has become one of the biggest operational pressures in our industry.
Our own courier fees have been rapidly creeping up, with additions such as government levy, driver & fuel surcharge, unboxed excess and 50% surplus for collections.
Keith has never liked the trend of artificially low hire prices, followed by meaty add-ons and then hefty delivery charges appearing later.
We did some market research earlier. Board hire was £23.80 per day.
📌 Then came an extra £10 for the board cover (essential).
📌 Next a minimum £100 hire charge.
📌 A damage waiver fee.
📌 Then a whopping delivery & collection: £894.50
📌 VAT @ 20%
Total: over £1k
We personally think customers deserve transparency.
So, after a great deal of consideration, we are increasing our display board hire rates by £10 per day.
40 years ago, our board hire cost was circa £40 per day. Adjusted for UK inflation figures today it’d be roughly £152 in 2026 money. Even after the increase, our rates remain around 40% lower than the inflation-adjusted equivalent of our historic pricing.
BUT THERE’S ALSO SOME GOOD NEWS…
We will now display flat fee courier charges on our website.
Why?
Because after 4 decades in business, Keith has learned something simple:
📍Customers value fairness more than sneaky surprises.
📍Most people don’t mind paying a sensible rate for reliable equipment, professional service and honest pricing.
Experience teaches you that long-term business relationships are built on clarity.
📍They’re built on trust.
📍On consistency.
📍On delivering what you promised.
Despite the recent changes in cost, Pinpoint remains one of the most competitive display board hire companies in the UK, and the ONLY business to rent premium, professional-grade Neuland display boards.
Not because we cut corners.
But because experience teaches you where value really matters.
